Cypriotische kleinschalige vissers in hun oproep voor een nationaal actieplan voor het eiland,<\/a> en ernaar gestreefd de kleinschalige visserij stevig verankerd te houden in de komende EU-visie voor 2040.<\/p>\nDe gesprekken weerspiegelden een sector die worstelt met diepe onzekerheid. Van afnemende visbestanden en toenemende concurrentie voor maritieme ruimte, tot de steeds grotere impact van klimaatverandering, uitsluiting van besluitvormingsprocessen en de groeiende uitdaging om jongere generaties aan te trekken voor het beroep, worden kleinschalige vissers in heel Europa geconfronteerd met een snel veranderende realiteit.<\/p>\n
Toch kwam er te midden van deze uitdagingen \u00e9\u00e9n boodschap met duidelijkheid en overtuiging naar voren: kleinschalige vissers beschikken over een diepte van kennis, ervaring en praktische wijsheid die te vaak over het hoofd wordt gezien. Wanneer hun stemmen oprecht worden gehoord en hun bijdrage naar behoren wordt erkend, worden zij essenti\u00eble partners bij het herstellen van de balans tussen ecologische duurzaamheid, sociaal welzijn en economische veerkracht binnen kustgemeenschappen.<\/p>\n
De organisatie Low Impact Fishers of Europe (LIFE) en Blue Ventures, die samen de campagne #MakeFishingFair leiden, zullen zich de komende maanden blijven inzetten om de vele beleidsmatige onzekerheden die nog op de loer liggen aan te pakken en ervoor te zorgen dat kleinschalige vissers een centrale rol blijven spelen bij het vormgeven van de toekomst van de Europese zee\u00ebn.<\/p>\n
