Snowchange is geworteld in de traditionele Finse bosbouwcultuur en houdt zich bezig met voorouderlijke kennis, verhalen, ambachten, vissen en jagen. Snowchange werkt ook als een wereldwijd netwerk en werkt samen met inheemse volken zoals de Saami, Inuit, Gwitchin, Maori en anderen. Snowchange wordt geleid door een internationale stuurgroep en slaat een brug tussen cultureel erfgoed en baanbrekende wetenschap en werkt samen met wereldwijde instellingen zoals de Arctische Raad en het IPCC om klimaatverandering, biodiversiteit en veerkracht van gemeenschappen aan te pakken.
