To achieve this, its members have established limits on the use of fishing gear, including maximum numbers of traps and restrictions on the length of fishing nets. They also work to protect coastal areas from poachers and regulate the sale of so-called “poor fish”—species that are of excellent quality but remain relatively unknown due to the market dominance of farmed or intensively harvested fish.
