Make Fishing Fair is an initiative supported and driven by small-scale fishers across Europe.
Fishing quotas and subsidies are benefitting those that do the most damage. For decades, low-impact, small-scale fishers have been fishing responsibly, with the preservation of their communities and our environment in mind, but they are being overlooked.
This campaign is designed to put small-scale fishers in the driving seat, with the aim of addressing the imbalance between the low-impact, small-scale fishing sector and the high-impact, large-scale fishing sector through a just transition.
Nous demandons instamment à la Commission européenne de garantir un accès équitable et un soutien ciblé à ceux qui pratiquent la pêche de manière responsable et qui ont besoin d'un soutien financier. protéger nos mers.
Accès équitable aux quotas
A detailed and binding implementation plan for Article 17 along with clear guidelines on how to develop and apply transparent and objective criteria to reward sustainable fishing practices and protect ecosystems and local communities.
Soutien financier pour une transition juste
Prioritise small-scale, low-impact fishers in EU funding to support SSF associations to form dedicated Producer Organisations; support the decarbonisation of the sector and to increase the share and widen the scope of the European Maritime Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund (EMFAF) used to promote nature restoration and regenerative practices.
Transparence et responsabilité
Ensure the processes of allocating fisheries subsidies and fishing opportunities are fully transparent and publicly accessible through the release of EU-level annual reports outlining how fishing opportunities and subsidies were allocated and to whom.
