Snowchange Cooperative

Winner of the 2023 Goldman Environmental Prize, Snowchange Cooperative is a unique Finnish organisation founded in 2000 to document and support local and Indigenous communities across the Northern regions. Rooted in traditional Finnish forest culture—honouring ancestral knowledge, stories, crafts, fishing, and hunting—Snowchange also operates as a global network, collaborating with Indigenous peoples such as the Saami, Inuit, Gwitchin, Maori, and others. Guided by an international Steering Committee, Snowchange bridges cultural heritage with cutting-edge science, working with global institutions like the Arctic Council and IPCC to address climate change, biodiversity, and community resilience. It stands as a beacon of positive transformation in the Circumpolar North.
